Anne De Bruyne -Earthenware projects
This is where I share my personal ceramic work, commissioned pieces, one-to-one project guidance, and workshops. I mainly work with earthenware and like to play with fast, single, intense firing and smoking techniques. Most of my work happens on a smaller to miniature scale; I like projects to remain fresh, immediate, and within reach. I get bored quickly, so I’m always moving between ideas and experiments. At the same time, I find it hard to let go, which often leads me to make molds for very small editions. Larger and more intricate pieces tend to grow organically from clusters of smaller projects that I assemble into something new. I am in a constant search for ways to bring things to life. Whether it takes the form of a box that can be opened, a doll that can be played with, or an amulet containing a prayer or the ashes of a loved one, I am drawn to objects that invite interaction, imagination, and emotional connection. One of my greatest fascinations is making something as static and rough as earthenware appear alive and capable of movement.
